Thursday, 9 August 2018 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM AEST

X202 (Level 2) NeW Space, Cnr Hunter and Auckland Streets, Newcastle, NSW, 2300, Australia.

On behalf of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, in collaboration with Newcastle Law School and CIFAL Newcastle, you are invited to our public seminar on Human Migration and Disaster Management.

Key note speaker, Dr Edna Co is Professor of Public Administration at the University of the Philippines and the Executive Director of CIFAL Philippines. The Philippines is the third worst-affected country by disasters that lead to displacement. While forced displacement and migration are often protracted and recurring, human mobility and disaster management pose continuing challenges to leafers and citizens.

Dr Co will explore the global challenges of the current unprecedented levels of human migration within the context of disaster management as we work towards the UN Sustainable Development Agenda for 2030.

After the public seminar there will be afternoon tea and an opportunity to network with Dr Co. http://www.unitar.org/dcp/cifal-philippines
